Sweet and Garlicky Slow Cooker Pulled Pork is perfect to feed a crowd!

Happy New Year friends! It’s the time of year we spend time reflecting on the past year and set goals for the coming year. 2016 was a great year both personally and professionally. If I had to describe the year in one word, it would be the word growth.

We grew as a family – my daughter, Alex got engaged at this year’s Food Wine Conference! I can’t even begin to tell you what that felt like. Of all the places that her fiance could have chosen to propose, he surprised her with our entire family watching from our 8th floor suite, during Food Wine Conference. All the feels! Needless to say, we couldn’t be more excited to welcome Shamus into our crazy family.

This year touched me and I grew personally. I learned so much. The one thing that stands out to me is that I learned that people and things don’t have to be perfect to be wonderful. Love can get you through anything. As December approached, I was busier than ever. Work brought me to NYC and I had the opportunity to have Ron and Alex join me for the weekend. It was a trip that we will never forget. We had the time of our lives. As you can imagine, between work and Christmas, I was quite behind on shopping and decorating. Our Christmas tree went up right before Christmas but I learned that it really didn’t make a difference. Our Christmas was full of love and lots of laughs.

And professionally, we have been blessed with growth. Our #SundaySupper Live events took off this year and have been so much fun. I loved spending time with so many of you during these special events connecting bloggers, brands, farmers and social influencers. Our team is growing and I am so honored to work with such talented individuals every single day. And most of all, all of you. Our audience the #SundaySupper Movement is reaching and touching the lives of so many. This is what I am most proud of. Thank you for being part of my 2016 and encouraging me to grow!

A Brief #SundaySupper History:

  • Sunday Supper is grounded in the mission to bring back Sunday Supper around the family table in every home. It starts off as one day a week and soon becomes a way of life.
  • Our founder, Isabel Laessig, has been blogging at Family Foodie since 2011.
  • As #SundaySupper continued to grow, the Food Wine Conference was born as a way to bring all the Sunday Supper tastemakers together to grow as a community.
  • From #SundaySupper Twitter chats came #SundaySupper Live. A great way for bloggers to connect with the brands, farmers, and producers the products they love to work with.
  • January 2016 #SundaySupper reached a record high of 8 million weekly followers.

With all this growth we think it’s important to reflect on where we began. The desire to spread the Sunday Supper mission across the nation. And now we have our sights on the world. This week our tastemakers have returned to our roots and are sharing their favorite family friendly recipes. Like I learned this year, it doesn’t have to be fancy, elaborate and even perfect. It just has to be made with love!

We are having a house full of teenagers this New Year’s Eve and this Sweet and Garlicky Slow Cooker Pulled Pork is always a crowd pleaser and requested time and time again!
